Submission:
Kee's Oil Palm Plantation • Nakhon Si Thammarat
Palm oil is an edible plant oil derived from the pulp of the fruit of the oil palm. It is a very common cooking ingredient in Thailand. The palm fruit yields both 1. palm oil and 2. palm kernel oil which is important in world trade and suitable for the manufacture of soaps, personal care, and edible oil products. Here are some photos of Kee's family at work.
Kee's brother in law (Kai) - seperates the fruit from the tree.
Kee's father - Mr.Nueab Teppuckdee
The palm clusters contain spikelets. The spikelets contain the fruit. Before getting the oil out of the fruit, the fruit must be separated from the spikelets. The pulp is yellow and when crushed contains the palm oil.

Inside the shell of the seed is the kernel. When the kernal is crushed it yields palm kernal oil.
